Working at Home and the Walgreens Journey

Posted by: TRochelle in , , , ,

This fun and frugal tip is about freebies at Walgreens. First I want to just debunk the theories about working at home. You know all of those naysayers that say they cannot work at home for fear of going bananas. They cannot work at home because they are socially dependent upon the presence of others. You know, all those folks who say if you don't work at home then you miss out on everything. Yeah those folks!

Well my day was long and hectic and is not even close to being over. I started the day by taking the kiddos to the doctor and then a rousing trip to the pharmacy. Of course that's an all day job with 4 kids and even more prescriptions.

While I was in the pharmacy, I thought I would grab a few free items that I noticed in the ad. Walgreens is having a wing dinger of a deal this week. There are several free items available and I figured I would take advantage while I waited. I got in line and noticed the couple in front of me using a 15% off coupon. I leaned in to listen as to how they got that wonderful coupon and realized it was a family and friend coupon. Well I can get those online! I was upset. I was sitting there thinking about how if I were at home I could find more deals and save more money.

I proceeded to check out the few little items I had while reminiscing about my computer. If I were at home, I could search which stores still had my favorite items in stock! I could get the Rembrandt toothpaste for $5 and receive a $5 Register Reward making that item free! I could have also gotten the Men's Zone razor for $4 and got the $4 RR. I continued to pout as I waited in line to make my purchase.

I bought Carefree liners ($2) and a few Colgate 360 Actiflex ($3) toothbrushes. I was happy because although I was spending $5, I would receive $5 in Register Rewards. It was like I spent nothing at all. I found a lot of joy in this until I stepped out of line and look back to make sure I had my keys and noticed a gentleman sitting a box of Breathe Right Nose Strips on the counter. They were on sale for $4.99 and you get a $4 Register Reward. AAaaaaaarrrggh! Yes, if I were at home I could have looked that up.

The moral of that story is that 1) Working at home keeps you more up to date and in the know than doing anything outside the home 2) Working at home teaches you organization 3) Working at home helps you budget (you can organize your coupons, save on commuting fees, and avoid being overcharged by price comparison shopping.

Now enjoy these deals!

You are so right. When we lived in New Orleans I was able to sit down and go through all the different ads from Walgreens and other stores and then when we stepped out to shop we were organized. Saved us time and money.

Have a blessed day!

I plan on mailing out your gift this Friday when we go into town.

I know just what you mean. I sit and get everything together (lists, coupons, and last minute deals) and I do so well even the cashiers swoon. Not yesterday. There is truly something to be said about being at home.

My daughter and I love your blog templete she was wondering is there a website she could go on that has african american templetes like yours? And Please go on and check out my 10 year old daughter's blog www.dariellesweeklyfashion.blogspot.com

Oh Tammy I love your daughter's blog. I am going to post a comment in just a few seconds I just wanted to tell you what I did for my blog. Being since I am cheap as all get out, I got a free background from Blogger Boutique (there is a pink and black one that would be beautiful for your daughter's blog) and I just added the little lady (also free online) to the blog. Now the little lady is thinner than I wanted her to be but at least she has a fro (its smaller than mine but it will do). Your daughter's blog is lots of fun so I just know she will be a huge success. Talking about Angela and Vanessa is a great start lol!
