Quarterly Taxes and Work at Home Leads
Posted by: TRochelle in apple, bloggers, Convergys, estimated taxes, ge capital, quarterly taxes, taxes, tea time, work at home, writerWelcome everyone, its "Tea Time"! Many of the newer work at home individuals are not bothered by today being the dreaded APRIL 15th but some of us vets have waited until the absolute last second. I, for one, am not one of those people. I try and balance myself out to where I do not owe at the end of the year but its starting to look like the best way to balance my taxes is by making estimated tax payments to cover the next year's tax liability.
That sounds technical but believe me, sounding that way is as technical as it gets. When you are self employed or you are considered an independent contractor it is important that you estimate both your income tax as well as your self employment tax. To do this, divide your income tax (Line 43 on Form 1040) by your adjusted gross income (Line 73 on Form 1040). Your result will be your average tax rate. Add your average tax rate to the standard self-employment tax rate of 15.3%. To configure your estimated taxes, multiply the percentage by your quarterly net profit.
To find out if you are actually liable for taxes, look at your total tax (found on Form 1040, Line 62) and subtract that amount from your total withholding (found on Form 1040, Line 63). The total is your total unpaid tax liability.
This amount is best paid monthly, but if you prefer to pay quarterly, divide that total by four to see how much you should pay quarterly. Should you choose to pay monthly, divide that total by twelve.
Monthly is much better because the payment system will allow recurring payments. If you have a payment due, you can make payments online via the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System. Should you decide to mail your payments instead, use a Form 1040-ES.

Work at Home Tax Tips

I apologize for my absence but this IS tax season. This time of year is especially busy for many of us. If you are an independent contractor, its pretty stressful too. No one wants to trigger an audit so its best to follow the rules to the letter. If you are unsure about your taxes, then you may need a teaching tool or some helpful hints. This is something I might be able to assist with. Check out these helpful links and tips to help avoid ticking off the IRS!
Teaching Tool
Self-employed
Your best friend could be your accountant, bookkeeper, professional tax preparer, or simple tax software that you can purchase at your local electronics or general merchandise store.
Tax software, albeit intimidating at times, can be a wealth of knowledge. With online updates, tax software can hold all the information necessary to perform the most complicated tax forms. There are several versions of software, depending on experience and level of tax difficulty, that a consumer can choose from.
HR BLOCK
PROSeries
TurboTax
These software companies offer online support for those who are still feeling unsure about their taxes. These knowledgeable professionals are there to give you assistance and guidance while you do your taxes. There are fees for these services associated with some software. You are paying for the assistance of people who have advanced education and experience in tax law, return preparation, and the tax industry.
Companies like Intuit also hire people to work from home (as I am sure you saw in the leads section because you check it everyday). For more information on the different opportunities Intuit offers for people who work from home visit the link below.

He wants me....I want him NOT!
Posted by: TRochelle in bargains, cheap, deals, freelance, frugal, save, taxes, uncle sam, work at home, work from home, youtubeRinging in the New Year means ringing out your wallets! Its time to pay the piper. This is the one time of year I know a rich guy with a ton of money wants me, but only for my money. Yes I am talking about everybody's uncle, UNCLE SAM! Its time for us to face to the music and as an independent contractor the music is playing the same old song.... "I need a deduction and I need it now, Uncle Sam thinks I'm a cash cow".
This time of year is just another wake up call for me, it reminds me that 1) I need to save more and 2) I need to get another job. I tell myself every year that its time I reach out and venture into more things, but it never happens. I figure it will be easier to save than it will be for me to actually step outside my working comfort zone.
To ease the transition I have decided to apply for another job (yes I did it) and I have decided to sign myself up with a freelance site or two. I figure this will give me an option to work if I want and pass if I prefer. Its way less pressure and I can get my feet wet doing something I love....writing!

Now on to being cheap. Anyone that knows me, knows I am VERY cheap. I enjoy a great sale, I shop the dollar stores and check the discount bins, and I love ideas on how to get even cheaper than I already am. With that being said I want you to check out one of my favorite chef's on Youtube.
